...about getting more involved with my online world again is the response i've gotten in just the last day...i answered a bunch of myspace messages last night. it was really cool to reconnect with the people who listen to my music and share their lives with me. a real lack of free time along with a few bad experiences made it really easy to distance myself from myspace and youtube, but i decided that i need to make more time to communicate with the people who actually get something from my music (unlike many of the other people i have to make time to talk to and deal with on a daily basis).
it's been wonderful to be in contact again with real people listening to real music. i remember some of the things that excited me so much just over a year ago, when i started to notice that my songs were reaching people around the world, and that their reactions were really big. people shared stories with me that were truly inspiring. their stories and reactions to the songs i was posting online made the difficulties of this path seem worthwhile. please don't misunderstand - i love what i do and i am grateful every day for the opportunity to follow this path - but it's really hard. this might sound odd, but in many ways it's harder now than it was when i was driving around the country and sleeping on couches. again - i'm still completely grateful. it's difficult to explain. and i think much of the difficulty comes from the transition. so i might soon find things a bit easier.
last night inspired me to do a couple of fun things, too....i decided to give away my guest list tickets for the upcoming tour. ran a little contest on myspace about an hour ago and gave away 3 sets of tickets to each of the shows. actually, the 2 tickets for dublin and 3 for castlebar are still available, so if anyone is reading this and wants to go, just send me a message on myspace and i'll add you to the list if there is still room.
i also decided to revisit the virtual tour, and i will post a new video every night of the tour, from my hotel room. or maybe the bus. depends on where i am after each show, i guess!
the guys and i are SO excited. i'm feeling much happier today than i felt last night, and am finally allowing myself to get excited about this tour and ready to enjoy every minute of it. including the disco cover which i have been asked to perform on an irish morning radio show. should be VERY interesting. disco is not really a genre with which i've had much experience, so i welcome the challenge.
