about to head out again...

it's almost that time. i'm making a list of the things i need to do before i head out on the road again. i'm driving to texas, playing some shows solo, then heading across the country to new york and then to philadelphia to meet up with tyler. elliott the pomeranian will accompany me to new york.

we have a long period of driving ahead of us...that stretch from california to texas is exceedingly boring. beyond boring. i'll probably be talking to myself by the time i get to dallas, but i guess i do that already so no big deal. maybe i can teach elliott how to drive. better yet, maybe i can teach him how to fly and he can strap the car to his back and carry us across the country. hmm...

last night was wonderful. thank you to everyone who showed up and made a lot of noise in between songs. i felt very supported. it was nice. an awesome way to say goodbye to LA for a bit.

so i think i get a rider on this tour. any ideas about what i should ask for? i'm really bad at that. water and gum. that sounds good to me. the orange trident - tropical fruit i think it's called. and water in a bottle.

i will try to write from the road as often as i can - but if i'm slow to answer emails please bear with me - i'll answer everything as soon as possible. promise.

At first blush, Terra Naomi’s songs seem like conventional-enough piano-based mainstream pop, but then you begin to notice how her powerfully yearning, dead-on vocals unerringly cleave the heart of each note, investing even the plainest lyric with a warmly enveloping soulfulness. On the bluesy plea "I Still Love You," luminously produced by Paul Fox (the Sugarcubes, Robyn Hitchcock), she stretches out the word "love" with an extra claw-shaped whorl of gospel wailing that digs into the brain. Her best original tunes match lush pop hooks with lyrics that reflect her rebellious, unpredictable personality, such as "Up Here," a literal (if gorgeously delivered) fuck-you to folks who judge her by her tattoo: "Don’t follow me around next time I’m shopping in your store." On "The Vicodin Song," from 2004’s Live & Free EP, she find humor in her own romantic desperation: "I’ve got Vicodin/do you want to come over? . . . I’ve got a pocketful of pills and I want a lover." seems we've taken this expression a bit too literally...there's a new show whose plot seems to revolve solely around pamela anderson's large rubber boobs. it's called "stacked." creative, huh?

i think i'll pitch one based on my own physique. think the world is ready for "just hangin' around" ???

tyler hilton tour!!!

just found out that i'm opening for tyler hilton on his first ever headlining tour! i'm so excited. can't wait.

not sure of the dates yet, but i think it will start around june 10th and go through the end of the month. cities include new york, boston, philadelphia, washington dc, alexandria, va, cleveland, towson, md, detroit, nashville, memphis and atlanta, and more are being added...i'll post the info on my website as soon as i have it! probably by early next week...=)

we're playing some great venues and i hope to see some of you out there this summer!

i know i know...my dad just reminded me that i need to blog more often.

he was very disappointed. sorry pops. it's just that my life is very boring these days. just recording and playing music and traveling and rehearsing with the new band (they rock by the way) and there's not much to report. i haven't been ripped off by ex-housemates, my upstairs neighbor is not a fundamentalist christian minister - life is pretty routine.
