i'm wide awake it's morning

i'm in a hotel in cleveland...parted with the guys for one night but will join up with them in chicago tonight after my cleveland show.  it's amazing how quickly you bond with people on the road.  i guess close quarters and bizarre situations tend to help with that...can't wait til my band can come on tour with me.  what a glorious time we'll have.

i can't tell you guys how much i am enjoying this whole experience. i don't want it to stop.  even after the hotel in towson which i described to tyler as "itchy."  and my sweet car is getting the sh*t kicked out of it and loving it.

big props to lemony, tyler's drummer, who has now seen me cry *twice* and dealt with it oh so well.  what a pro.

i just found out that i will stay on as opener for the remainder of the dates, so i'm happy about that.  thanks to all of you who make me feel loved each night!  and thanks for helping me with the censored words in "up here" - i love hearing them loud and clear, even if i can't sing them!

ew - i just remembered a dream i had last night - i stepped in barf.  gross.  it was red.  but enough about that.

time to go get ready for the cleveland show.  yay cleveland!!!

a disturbing realization

while jogging through my hometown yesterday afternoon, i made a disturbing discovery.

the "rat-tail" is alive and well in schenectady, ny.

for those of you who do not remember the rat tail, it was a lovely version of the mullet circa 1987-ish. i think. might have stretched into the early 90's as well.

hi from the road!

hi everyone...sorry i've been absent as of late.

i'm in new york now, staying with my mom and dad until the tour starts in philadelphia on june 14th...met up with tyler in buffalo and drove to syracuse with the guys on my way to my hometown...managed to lock my keys in the trunk. AAA to the rescue. and you thought it was only good for discounts at crappy hotels.

what else to report...i crossed the country without incident, thankfully...stayed at some nasty places on the side of highways. very happy to be joining up with tyler soon - goodbye dirty mattresses, hello room service. of course, i'll be quite sad when it's time to part ways and make friends with Super 8 again. oh well.

here's an interesting fact - i can get awesome reviews in the LA Weekly, LA Times and the Village Voice and somehow can't get anything in my own little hometown newspaper! i mean, what is so freaking important up here in schenectady, ny?!? a crackhouse burned down, another business went bankrupt, a new gang migrated up from NYC and it's a vicious one - seriously - is there so much going on up here that a hometown girl can't get a mention? oh well...so it goes...

and now it's time to raid the refridgerator. a most loved pasttime of mine, as some of you know. so welcoming, so packed full of food...some of it forgotten and rotting in the back, but whatever...
